How We Actually Check
Not an audit programme, and we will not pretend otherwise. This is desk research done carefully, with the sources named and the gaps marked.
We read what operators publish, record where each figure came from, and label anything we could not confirm. That is the whole method, and its limits are stated on this page.
- Rates come from operator pages, read in the original rather than summarised.
- Where two sources disagree, both are recorded and the page says which was used.
- We do not board, inspect or survey vessels, and never claim to.
Five steps, every figure
Dull by design. The value is in doing it the same way each time.
Rates move with season and are starting figures. Nothing on this site is a quote, and every price page says so.
What this method cannot tell you
Stating the limits is the part that makes the rest usable.
Figures age
Rates and park fees change. A page is accurate as of the survey date and no longer than that.
Published is not quoted
A starting rate is where negotiation begins. Your dates, group size and season all move it.
Silence is not evidence
Forty of 185 vessels publish no rate. Their absence from a range says nothing about their quality.
Operators disagree
Distances and seasons are stated differently across the market. Where that happens we say so rather than picking quietly.
No individual vetting
We do not certify operators. The safety page lists what to ask them yourself.
What the price data actually is
In September 2026 we read the published pages of the 185 vessels Komodo Luxury lists for Komodo and recorded the starting rate each one shows. A hundred and forty-five publish a figure; forty do not and quote by enquiry only. Every range on this site comes from that set, and the sample is stated on the page that uses it rather than buried here.
Speedboats are quoted per day and liveaboards per night. They are never mixed into one range.
When we get it wrong
Several figures on this site changed after an operator pointed out that we had misread their page. That is the system working. Corrections are made to the page rather than appended to it, and the reason is recorded so the same misreading does not recur. If a number here looks wrong to you, saying so is genuinely useful.
